I'm looking for a travel insurance that I can purchase in Malaysia that will cover against CDW/LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) and 3rd party liability when I rent a car in another country, particularly US & Canada. This in addition to the other travel benefits e.g. flight delays, loss baggage, etc. Does this option exist for Malaysian travelers? If an insurance company says one of its benefit is that it pays for rental car excess cover of RM 1000. What does that mean please? If I get into an accident while driving a rental car in US and the car is totaled, and I didn't opt for the CDW provided by the US car rental company, but instead purchased a travel insurance with that particular coverage, does the travel insurance pay for damage to the rented car? Thank you.

In my recent experience, if you do not have a Malaysian Passport, HSBC does not cover you unless you have MM2H, or PR. So foreigners beware before you buy this insurance

From my opinion travel insurance is necessary while travelling. It provides your luggage safety and if you might met with an accident then it will be very beneficial for you. Travel insurance has eased the pain of cancelled flights, delayed travel and interrupted trips. It is offered by travel agencies, banks and insurers.. You can also buy travel insurance online. Do this for your safety.

Hi Ronald, only electronic version of the policy will be emailed to policyholders. The electronic policy is as valid and official as the terms of coverage written on the electronic document. Policyholders can always print out the document for reference, and can always verify the coverage terms with the Insurer by quoting the policy number specified in the electronic policy. Likely about insurances ,when they were in critical illness in nature ..they didnot probably insured themselves against losses...ha ha ha, naturally they have in minds of merging..likely to save faces, so claimers should always be stubborn as mule or an ass, to follow up by their backyards and smell about,otherwise its could idle in coffin yards.. its could be dishearthened in life,sometimes..naturally by ethic of merging..they disappeared in acts..untraceable in nature..without imforming...

The worst claims is with aig - chartis..they have long twisted tales of feedbacks .''.MURUKU'' stories to tell, finalised wirh small amount of claims..with that unbelievedable waiting period..,further more long time to settle..next year they should changed or named to geogie bushit insurance company...smile roake ...welcome to chaostic insurance island.....

Hi Ben, would like to rephrase: InsuranceOnline.my's travel insurance plan covers anyone departing from Malaysia and not necessarily has to return to Malaysia (One-way Trip).
